What is Prepare/Enrich Couples Counseling?
/Over time, relationships may start to feel complicated, painful, and hard to manage. It’s hard to talk to your partner about your feelings, expectations, and past experiences. You may even feel like something is wrong, but not know why you feel the way you do about your relationship. Therapist DeKimberly Butler is trained in Prepare/Enrich premarital and couples counseling, which can be just the thing needed to help your relationship flourish.
Prepare/Enrich couples counseling begins with a one-time assessment online which identifies each partner’s goals and feelings about their relationship. It creates a framework for identifying the relationship’s strength and growth areas, relationship dynamics, commitment strategies, and personality traits.
After the initial assessment, DeKimberly provides the couple with an individualized plan to help work on growth areas. This may look like focusing on conflict resolution, how to communicate efficiently, how to understand your own feelings about your relationship, or how to work through resentments or infidelity.
Having herself been married for 22 years, DeKimberly gets it. She believes every relationship should work at some point with an impartial, non-judgemental counselor like herself, whether you feel like you are doing well or like you are really struggling. Understanding your partner's communication style, love language, and desires is a difficult thing to do alone. Good news is, you don’t have to.
